The short version: WildJoule earns commissions when you buy products through links on our site. This page is the full, no-nonsense version of how that works.
Required statement
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
This is required by Amazon’s Operating Agreement and appears on every page of our site where Amazon links are present.
How affiliate links work
When you click a link on WildJoule that goes to Amazon (or any other retailer we’re affiliated with):
- A small tracking code is appended to your visit
- If you buy something within the retailer’s cookie window (Amazon’s is 24 hours), we earn a small commission
- You pay exactly the same price — the commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not added to your bill
- We don’t see your account, payment info, address, or purchase history
What we’re currently affiliated with
- Amazon Associates (US) — most product links
Future affiliates we may add (will update this page when we do):
- Walmart Affiliates (via Impact)
- Best Buy Affiliates (via Impact)
- Direct brand affiliate programs (EcoFlow, Bluetti, Anker, Renogy)
How we choose what to recommend
This is the part most affiliate sites won’t say:
- Commission rate does NOT influence which products make our recommendation list. Amazon pays us 3% on most electronics regardless of brand.
- We recommend what we think is the best fit for the use case. Sometimes that’s the cheapest option, sometimes that’s the most expensive.
- We don’t accept paid placements or “sponsored” picks. No brand has ever paid us to rank them higher.
- Where we haven’t personally tested a product, we say so in the post. We rely on independent tester data + aggregated buyer reviews.
If you ever see something on WildJoule that feels like a recommendation driven by commission rather than honest evaluation, email us — we’ll fix it or remove it.
What if I don’t want to use your affiliate links?
You’re under zero obligation. If you’d rather not contribute, just open Amazon in a new tab and search for the product manually. We’d love your support, but the content stays free and unchanged either way.
FTC compliance
The Federal Trade Commission requires “clear and conspicuous” disclosure of affiliate relationships. We disclose:
- On every page with affiliate links (in-line near the top of the post)
- In the footer of every page
- On this dedicated disclosure page
If you ever feel a disclosure is missing or unclear on any page, please let us know via our contact page.
A note on trust
We’ve built WildJoule on the premise that the off-grid power audience is technically literate and tired of generic affiliate content. The fastest way to lose that audience is to recommend products we don’t actually believe in. So we don’t.
