Installation and wiring notes
Wiring is the same discipline as any shunt: the Victron SmartShunt goes on the battery negative, with only the main battery negative on the battery side and every other negative on the load side, so it counts all current. Keep the battery-to-shunt cable short and correctly sized per the battery cable gauge guide, and fuse both battery legs per fuse sizing for DC battery systems.
In VictronConnect, set the battery capacity and the charged parameters so the monitor snaps back to 100% each full charge. Because there is no display, do this setup carefully — the app is your only window into whether the shunt is calibrated correctly.
