EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max Review (2026): Still Worth It as the DELTA 3 Max Takes Over?

How we evaluated: WildJoule has not bench-tested this unit. Specs come from EcoFlow’s US DELTA 2 Max product page and the DELTA 2 Max user manual, checked October 21, 2026. Where the two disagree (cycle life, switchover time), we show both. Recall information is from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Runtime figures are our estimates.
Any EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max review written in late 2026 has to start with availability. The unit itself is still a strong 2 kWh power station: 2,048 Wh of LFP, 2,400 W continuous, 1,000 W of solar input across two ports, and room for two extra batteries to reach 6,144 Wh. But on October 21, 2026, EcoFlow’s US product page showed it as sold out with a pre-order note, and one independent review site says EcoFlow no longer sells it. Its closest successor is the DELTA 3 Max. So the real question is whether a discounted DELTA 2 Max still beats the newer model for you.
Quick verdict
Buy the DELTA 2 Max if you find one new at a real discount and you’ll use its two advantages over the DELTA 3 Max: 1,000 W of solar input (double) and a documented path to 6 kWh. Skip it if you want the faster sub-10 ms switchover, a lighter unit, or the newest firmware support; the DELTA 3 Max is the better default. This EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max review also clears up a recall mix-up below.
Quick honesty note: I’ve never owned a DELTA 2 Max. I got into this stuff because I’ve lived with a grid that drops out on its own schedule, so I care more about how many hours a box buys you than how it looks in a launch video. This review is EcoFlow’s documentation, a CPSC record and some plain math, and I’ll flag where EcoFlow’s own documents don’t agree.
EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max review: specs
| Spec | DELTA 2 Max | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 2,048 Wh LFP | About 1,740 Wh at the AC outlets (our 85% estimate) |
| Cycle rating | 3,000 to 80% (product page); 4,000 to 80% (manual) | Plan on the lower figure |
| AC output | 2,400 W continuous, 4,800 W surge, X-Boost 3,400 W, 6 outlets | 120 V only; X-Boost is for resistive loads |
| DC ports | 2× USB-C 100 W, 2× USB-A 12 W, 2× USB-A 18 W, 126 W car port, 2× DC5521 | Plenty for a home office |
| Wall charging | 1,800 W max on US 120 V; about 80 min to full (manual) | Uses most of a 15 A circuit |
| Solar | 2 inputs, 500 W each (1,000 W), 11–60 V, 15 A | Double the DELTA 3 Max |
| Expansion | Up to 2 DELTA 2 Max Smart Extra Batteries (6,144 Wh) | Check extra-battery stock before relying on it |
| UPS switchover | Under 20 ms (manual); an EcoFlow comparison blog lists 30 ms | Not for desktop PCs without a separate UPS |
| Weight / size | 50 lb; 19.6 × 9.5 × 12 in | A two-hand carry; it has two handles |
| Warranty / app | 5 years; Wi-Fi + Bluetooth | Manual: storing it uncharged 6+ months can void warranty |
Not the recalled DELTA Max
In October 2025 the CPSC announced a recall of about 25,030 EcoFlow DELTA Max 2000 units (model EFD310) over overheating and fire risk, with a firmware update as the remedy. That’s an older, different product. We found no CPSC recall for the DELTA 2 Max. If you’re buying used, read the model number on the label: EFD310 is the recalled DELTA Max, not this one. Check the CPSC recalls list before buying any used power station.
What 2,048 Wh and 2,400 W buy you
Twice the capacity of a 1 kWh unit changes outages from “keep the fridge cold” to “keep the fridge cold, run the internet and cook one meal.” With about 1,740 Wh usable by our estimate: a fridge averaging 60 W plus a 20 W router runs around 21 hours together. Add a 1,000 W microwave for 10 minutes a day and you lose under 200 Wh. A 2,400 W continuous rating covers a space heater on high or a 15,000 BTU window AC, though either empties it in under a day.
It’s still 120 V only. No 240 V well pump, no dryer, and no direct link to a home panel without a transfer switch or EcoFlow’s own hardware. For whole-circuit backup, read our home backup power guide and the best home backup power stations.
Where it still beats the DELTA 3 Max
| Spec | DELTA 2 Max | DELTA 3 Max |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity / output | 2,048 Wh / 2,400 W | 2,048 Wh / 2,400 W |
| Solar input | 1,000 W (2 ports) | 500 W |
| Expansion | To 6,144 Wh | Unclear; US page lists expansion only on the Max Plus |
| UPS switchover | Under 20–30 ms | Under 10 ms |
| AC outlets | 6 | 4 |
| Weight | 50 lb | About 44.8 lb |
For off-grid or cabin use where solar does the recharging, 1,000 W of input is a big deal: on a four-peak-sun-hour day, that’s roughly twice the energy the DELTA 3 Max can take in. For a suburban backup that mostly charges from the wall, the newer unit’s faster switchover and lighter build matter more. If you need more than 2 kWh with a growth path from a current product, look at the DELTA 3 Max Plus or the DELTA Pro 3.
Weak spots
Fifty pounds is a lot for a “portable” unit. The cycle-life numbers don’t match between EcoFlow’s page and manual. The warranty clause about storage means you should top it up every few months, which anyone keeping one for emergencies should do anyway. And with the product winding down, extra batteries and support could get harder to find; buy the extra battery at the same time if expansion is the reason you’re choosing it.
The final word in this EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max review: a good 2 kWh unit with the best solar input in its size class, worth buying only at a clear discount over the DELTA 3 Max.
Frequently asked questions
Is the EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max discontinued?
EcoFlow hasn’t announced it, but its US page showed the unit sold out with a pre-order note on October 21, 2026, and the DELTA 3 Max now fills the same slot. Treat remaining stock as end-of-line.
Was the DELTA 2 Max recalled?
We found no CPSC recall for it. The October 2025 recall covers the older DELTA Max 2000, model EFD310.
How long does it take to charge?
About 80 minutes from a US wall outlet per the manual (1,800 W input). With the full 1,000 W of solar in strong sun, roughly 2.5–3 hours in ideal conditions, longer in real ones.
Is this EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max review based on testing?
No. It’s built from EcoFlow’s product page and manual, with conflicts shown, and our own estimates labelled.
